Kalpana Mody

Receptionist/Administrator @ Thorndon Quay Centre

Kalpana is originally from England but is well and truly a Kiwi now especially as of last year when she became a NZ citizen after 30 years of living in NZ.

Her passion has always been in working in education and has worked in just about in every school in the Hutt Valley from pre-school to high school. Kalpana has worked primarily in learning support, gaining experience in working with special needs children, ESOL support, Gateway Brokering and recently supporting diabetic individuals in schools to manage their diabetes.

Kalpana has 3 children, whom have recently all left home, but seem to boomerang back home quite frequently. In-between jobs Kalpana had the opportunity to pursue her interest in art and creativity by becoming a student at the Learning Connexion gaining a New Zealand Certificate in Creativity Level 4. She feels this was an amazing experience allowing her to meet and forge relationships with extraordinary people and to challenge herself in the world of art and much more.

Now that her family are grown up, she felt she wanted to venture out of the Hutt Valley and pursue her passion of working in Education in Wellington taking on a fixed term position at the Catholic Institute as Business and Student support and now the role of Receptionist and Administrator at Capital Training.
