Haines van der Merwe

Team Leader @ Lower Hutt Centre

I would like to introduce you to Haines van der Merwe.

Born and bred in South Africa, Haines has a great passion for sport & an active lifestyle, having played rugby at a provincial level for the Natal Sharks for a season and is still today involved intermittently with the coaching side of things.

He also comes from a long line of ministers, teachers, and farmers. He started his working career in the South Africa Police force and achieved recognition as their youngest commander and instructor.

In 2005, Haines and his lovely wife decided to immigrate to New Zealand where his passion for training started. He gained a National Certificate in Adult Education and Certificate in Literacy and Numeracy Level 5 while working at the Department of Corrections.

After 8 years it was time for a new venture and he joined Taratahi Agricultural Training Centre in the Wairarapa where he also had the opportunity to start his studies towards a diploma in Agriculture.

After a stint at PrimaryITO, he has joined Capital Training and still has a passion for training students, helping them to achieve the best they can be.

Haines lives by the motto … whatever we do in this day, will echo into eternity (Gladiator)
