Workplace Literacy and Numeracy
Capital Training’s fully government funded Workplace Literacy and Numeracy programmes provide organisations or individuals the opportunity to improve literacy/digital literacy/numeracy within the workplace.
The concept is to increase the literacy and numeracy of New Zealanders (citizens and permanent residents) and also, if needed, help them work towards qualifications that perhaps feel out of reach. Those with lower literacy levels gain more confidence and increase their effectiveness in the workplace.
Programmes are customised to each organisation, to address specific business needs, and enable employees to develop their individual skills to use in the workplace and at home.
As programmes are customised to each workplace or individual, study content will vary. However, examples of training covered are:
- Upskilling reading, writing or maths
- Filling out forms
- Comprehension of policies and procedures
- Completing incident reports
- Following and giving instructions
- Understanding compliance requirements
- Estimating or calculating quantities
- Problem solving
