About Us

Want to know more about us? You've come to the right place, this is our story! Capital Training is a New Zealand lower North Island-based, NZQA accredited, private training establishment (PTE) offering a wide spectrum of free courses and qualifications to prepare people for the modern workplace.

Working within our mission statement “to empower people with knowledge and skill for autonomy”, we offer learners the opportunity to build their confidence and credentials for employment and further study, enabling the development of practical employment skills while building a record of learning achievement through national qualifications.

We have training centres in Thorndon Quay, Upper Hutt, Lower Hutt, Paraparaumu, and Waipukurau, as well as providing in-work training nationwide.

We are quality assured by NZQA – our latest External Evaluation Report can be found here: View Report Here!

At Capital Training We Believe That:

  • Everybody who wants to build their skills and autonomy deserves a second chance at learning and education.
  • Everybody can learn and achieve with the right support.
  • Literacy and numeracy are fundamental to learning.
  • Training is best delivered by tailoring it to the individual through an individual learning plan and regular plan and review occurring between tutor and learner.
  • Our role is to progressively teach our learners how to independently manage learning, planning and goal setting.
  • Good learning material draws on the lived experience of our learners wherever possible.

At Capital Training we pride ourselves on providing each learner with an experience that meets their individual needs. If you have special requirements, such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, autism, aspergers, dyspraxia, or physical difficulties, we have staff that can help you to achieve your goals, and resources that are tailored to your learning needs.

“Capital Training has been a crucial source of high-quality candidates during peak recruitment periods. Barb has listened to our requirements and only referred candidates with the specific skills and qualities tailored to suit our particular needs. “Level 2, the entry level for a new future for me; started at the middle of 2015, with comforting tutors Tom, Vladimir, Rodney and Pete surrounding me. Finishing assessments and earning credits brings the future closer. It only took half a year to finish a level that would take a year in school! Do you want to know the place to be? Well, its Capital Training!”

“When I first started the NCES level 1 qualification, I didn’t really know anyone and was completely focused on achieving level 1. The longer I stayed, the more I improved. I now have my qualification and am continuing on with my study to get my level 2 and 3 qualifications.”

“I wasn’t good at learning in the bigger groups. Capital Training had a more welcoming environment, it was so much more comfortable. The tutors have been really nice – they make you feel safe, they’re really understanding and encouraging, and they’re there for you when you want to talk. The students are really kind too. We’re one big family – we all support each other.”

“I don’t know what to say, I have learnt a lot. The tutors and work experience staff are all really friendly. The work is quite interesting as well. Usually, assessments kind of suck, but not these ones. I am really enjoying myself here.”
